Replace the footer copyright text

Hi

in the customiser – I have text set in the copyright field.

When i try and update this it shows on the page preview with the customiser open but it does not actually save.

i have 2016 and all I’m looking to do is update to 2017. For some reason the only way i can do this is by removing the code relating to copyright in footer.php within my child theme (deleting the child theme footer.php doesnt make any difference so doesnt appear to be an issue with an out of date child template).

any help would be appreciated.
