Can the excerpt skip tags?

Hi,

The way I’ve created all my posts, the content starts with <h1>, <h2>, and <h3> tagged text giving the post title, an event’s date/time/location, and some generic info. Then there’s an image, and then the actual descriptive text I want to use in the excerpt, without formatting (other than , , mixed in). Is there any way to skip the h-tags and start the excerpt with the actual text?
